BandSwap!

BandSwapSpokesBUZZ is pleased to announce what may be its most radical collaboration yet, with the introduction of BandSwap — an initiative that will bring five of the finest Fort Collins bands to like-minded music cities across the U.S.: Boise, Lafayette, Memphis, Milwaukee and Portland.

The Fort Collins bands will:

  • partner and perform with bands that attract a similar fan base
  • share resources, industry contacts and community connections
  • ultimately return home to Colorado, alongside their partner bands, to celebrate success with a weekend of Fort Collins shows

Of course, success-oriented touring bands have been forging relationships with local acts and venues for years; it’s a necessary step in building a fan base when you’re far from home. So what’s the BandSwap difference?

  • The cities selected embody the same cooperative, creative spirit inherent in the Fort Collins music scene
  • The promotional effort behind BandSwap is coordinated, deliberate, high-level and nationally targeted
  • The communities involved are invited to participate in the economic impact, by amplifying the message in addition to attending the shows
  • The message sent is unmistakable, with Fort Collins as the final destination: for imaginative ideas, progressive culture and top-notch talent

In other words, Fort Collins is poised to become a bad-ass global music hub, and BandSwap is the next step in making that vision a reality. This is more than a mini tour, it’s a unique opportunity to make a splash nationally and draw attention to the idea that a rising tide lifts all boats — coast to coast.

To make it happen, we need your help. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, SpokesBUZZ is raising both private and public funds for the BandSwap budget, with the City of Fort Collins matching donations totaling up to $15,000. A Community Funded project with a minimum $5000 funding goal is live, eagerly awaiting your involvement (and happily, offering some awesome giftback items in exchange for your donation). You can always donate directly to SpokesBUZZ, of course, but the combined visibility and camaraderie of the Community Funded site make it our preferred method, at least through July 31, 2012.

We hope you’ll help us make an impact by adding to our enthusiasm and supporting BandSwap — it’s a story we can’t wait to share, and a wonderful new way to tell the world that Fort Collins rocks!
